UOL profits U$19M (net) in Q2 and reach 1.7 Million broadband customers

The increase on profits in UOL, one of the largest Brazilian ISPs (Internet Service Providers), was driven by higher advertising and broadband sales in the second quarter of 2007.  Advertising sales increased  around 28% when compared to Q1, reaching U$16M.

This net profits is 80% higher than 2006 Q2 numbers, and is also explained by the launch of new products such as VoIP. The total number of broadband customers reached 915,000 with 73,000 net additions in the quarter (47% more than Q1 sales).

Sales of content to cellular customers such as ringtones and wallpapers are also growing.
