Strong growth on cellular market in July
Sao Paulo (Reuters) – The number of cellular lines in service in Brazil increased 1,74% last July, or a number of 1.85 Million net additions.
Overall the Brazilian market ended July with 108.5 Million cellular numbers (lines) in service. This is 16.6% growth from July 2006.
CLARO, TIM and Oi were the main carriers promoting their services during this traditional “weak” period (holidays, etc), especially with aggressive offers.
Until July 31, 7.8 Million cellular lines were added (net) to the Brazilian customer base only this year, which is 40% higher than 2006 figures for the same period.
